The Death Night Show (General News and Announcements)
Hello, hello! How are you all doing? It's been a while since I've popped in here and that is for one reason only; the development of the full version of The Death Night Show.
So, here is a general update of things that have happened, what to expect in the near future, and what to expect in the not so near but not so far future.
The Grant
This is very big! We won the ACAU Videogame Grant, which has helped me and Leyla (the current programmer of the full version of the game) jumpstart the full version's development. Especially the demo. We are still figuring out how to go from that point onwards (Patreon??? Publishers??? Stealing from the mob??? So many decisions...) but doing well at the moment (though if you work at a publisher we would love to hear it hehe). Again, lots of thanks to ACAU for giving us this super cool opportunity!
The PAX
In between one thing and the other, we went to PAX East! We didn't exhibit there, but definitely gathered lots of tips and tricks and inspiration. Plus, we met very very cool people!
The Jam Version
I, Cheddy, want to so very much thank all of you for playing and enjoying the Jam Version of The Death Night Show. Also thanking the jam team for being so very good at their roles; it went better than I could have ever imagined.
The update is very small, but significant. In the next couple of days I'll be changing this game's title to include "Jam Version" in it. This is to avoid confusion when the full version comes out. I hope that's ok!
The Full Version
Development is going pretty decently, and I don't feel comfortable giving a demo release date (even less a full release date) right now. Expect the demo by next year (at the latest).
You may be wondering; what would be the difference between the full and jam version of the game? And the answer is "pretty much everything besides the characters."
I'll explain; the current jam version currently serves as a prologue of sorts for the full version of the game, where you are already Death's intern in his late night show. In this version, you'll be controlling the audience's reactions to different situations in the show (+ doing Death's errands, of course).

grim (my beloved) new sprite and a backstage background!
We will update further as more things happen.
Please check out and follow us on Bluesky, or shoot as an email ( julieta (at) studiopathos.com ) if you have any questions!
Thank you lots for reading until the end!
Love, Cheddy
